What do open source software developers have in common with property developers? A desire to know stuff and be a part in making that stuff - “stuff” in this case being what the city council is up to.
Both groups might be pleased to know that the city of Portland will show off its legislative agenda app next Friday at the Open Source Convention, an annual convention that celebrates and shows off all things open source. The app combines a weekly RSS feed of city council agendas and lets users to comment on agenda items. So, besides helping property developers stay abreast of meetings that may concern zoning issues and the like, those same citizens can comment on other important issues.
Friday at the conference is for geek and non-geek alike, but if you plan to stay for Saturday, prepare for obscure meme references and a babble of 1337 speek all fueled by round after round of bacon- flavored sodas; it will be an all-day coding fest hosted at Portland tech start-up PHPFog’s downtown office.
Stay tuned for updates!
