According to Wikipedia, RSS is a family of Web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines, and podcasts in a standardized format. Typically RSS document (which is called a “feed”, “web feed”, or “channel”) contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for internet surfers to keep up with web sites in an automated manner that can be channelled into special programs or filtered displays. The benefit of RSS is the aggregation of content from multiple Web sources in one place. RSS content can be read using software called an “RSS reader”, “feed reader” or an “aggregator”, which can be web-based or desktop-based.

A standardized XML file format allows the information to be published once and viewed by many different programs. The user subscribes to a feed by entering the feed’s link into the reader or by clicking an RSS icon in a browser that initiates the subscription process. The RSS reader checks the user’s subscribed feeds regularly for new content, downloads any updates that it finds, and provides a user interface to monitor and read the feeds.

According to the numbers used, RSS can mean Real Simple Syndication (RSS 2.0), Rich Site Summary (RSS 0.91) and RDF Site Summary (RSS 1.0 and RSS 0.90).

RSS feeds come in handy in that the surfer need not go in for updating the web feeds . This is done automatically by the aggregators and webfeeds for him. RSS is used nowadays by frequent visitors to the web. RSS provides notifications. Notifications or feeds are made up of a list of items presented in order from newest to oldest. Each item usually consists of a simple title describing the item along with a more complete description and a link to a web page with the actual information being described. Sometimes this description is the full information you want to read.

While working in any field after some time any individual may ask this question to him self that, should I keep this business going or not, same goes with affiliate marketing as well. The purpose of asking this question to yourself is that as this whole industry is growing whether you should grow or not?

But there are always some constraints that must be thought before doing any of this because the planning is very important aspect of any decision and the pros and cons are always there which must be kept in mind before taking any decision.

As affiliate marketing is done by many ways, outsourcing is not the ultimate decision to make. One can outsource some of the things keeping others in-house, so that some control can be maintained. And will also result in future growth with saving of money in his pocket which is very wise decision.

The best thing to outsource is the hiring of teams for affiliate marketing because the people who have dedicated their selves to this field will have more expertise in this field then you and more efficient results can be acquired by their expertise. This Results in generation of more sales. And that will make you able to outsource more of the processes.

The disadvantages of going towards outsourcing is that the firm to whom you will outsource already have more customers, who are as important to them as you, so you see here comes problem that you have to face the problem of late e-mail responses and delay in dead lines.

On the other hand if we go to opt hiring of in-house affiliate manager whose sole responsibility is to work for you then he is going to be on your disposal at all the times. And the additional benefit would be a more customized touch and some one who knows each and every thing because he is the only one who has worked on that project, so the element of reliability would be there.

The problem with hiring is that the manager would require ongoing training and that is costly. It is going to be expensive for the firm to manage his training activities because he is exclusively working for you and you have got the responsibility to give him the training. So if you are going to be hiring you need to make sure that the people you are hiring are going to be faithful workers who will stick with you and use their training skills to better the company.

Well…after about a year doing PPC, (Pay Per Click) and 7 months with a PPC club l feel that l should make an honest post on whether or not it really works, or still works?

For the sake of classification l will use 3 terms, which follows.

• The 3% of people that have a natural knack for PPC and can make substantial amounts, while the majority scratch their heads trying to make anything.

• The percent that gets lucky and finds something quickly.

• And the percent, “that is the majority” that sees these success posts on the forums and begin to wonder what is wrong with them and start thinking that after 6 months or more have passed that maybe they are cursed, etc because other people seem to be getting somewhere with this?

But it is only a small percentage of people that are posting that gives you an unnatural expectation.

I could rattle on about this, but you probably get the idea.

If PPC worked for everyone then PPC clubs forums for example would have most of its members saying that they are making money from it; They usually have a very small percentage of their overall members putting up a positive post.

So…in my honest opinion is it worth joining a PPC club or doing it on your own, well yes and no?

• If you are hard up financially, and like to gamble, then yes, (but l wouldn’t recommend it).

• If you are very lucky in financial things then the answer would probably be yes again.

• And if you have $1000 to $2000 sitting somewhere and want to have a fair to good chance of making $100 or more a day then l would recommend it, (of course you need to seek the opinion of an unbiased PPC expert for further info, this is just my best recommendation on my past results).

But only of you are nuts about PPC, there are far cheaper ways of making a living online, (but l will get to that later).

Just to give you a rundown on a typical PPC club, (that l was involved with).

To make a long story short l ran through about 10 campaigns over several months and found virtually nothing that was viable.

The first 3 where testing my 3 ebooks that l had wrote with pricing, before l tried affiliated products, but with the exception of maybe two, no success, (one that produced some results was in a diminishing market, not the type of project you want to put serious resources into).

The second one was something that someone on their forums said converted well and after several attempts and hundreds of dollars, l started to realize that l would need $1000 or more to really bring it, (hopefully) up to $100 dollars a day?

But as stated before there are better, cheaper ways.

They, (the club l was involved with) did have some excellent videos and training, but it also had some gurus that are running their own training courses. Nothing wrong with that, l hear you say, but unfortunately some of their ideas don’t seem to work that well.

They did have some gold nuggets here and there, but if you are joining one of these clubs to immediately get the million dollar gold nugget, forget it.

Their training methods used to work well, but now unless you have serious money it is getting too expensive with straight PPC. Obviously if you applied their techniques to Facebook, then once you have gotten past their rules you would have a better chance than normal and mobile phone advertising when it matures a bit more.

Facebook will usually give you “internet marketing” keywords for about $1, instead of $5-$15 for Google Adwords, big difference, but still expensive.

So…unless you go into these areas with PPC then without serious capital it is best to consider other options.

I am presently working on lists after about a year with PPC.

Maybe building a list is just another dodgy thing that won’t work, but l have had a few subscribers so far and expect to get substantially more soon.

So…it very well could be something viable and best of all at least so far it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to do.

Nice for a change.

Building a list has many similarities with building your sites, give people plenty of free stuff and they will buy more often than usual.

To wrap up this article, carefully consider your site niche, my game site hasn’t gotten me any new subscribers yet, even after giving away 15 ebooks, (2 l wrote) and l haven’t made a recent sale, even though l have 24 ebooks, etc and ran a survey to see which ones people would buy the most)?

When l make my site 3 times bigger then it could turn the corner…

but…

I am also running an internet marketing squeeze page and have posted a link onto several forums with 6 subscribers so far.

Big difference.

Obviously PPC with internet marketing would cost a couple of dollars per click, but creating a name list is different and cheaper.

So to wrap up, for heaps of great tips and tricks to use with online marketing l would give PPC clubs in general the thumbs up, but for straight PPC with AdWords or MSN, etc unless you are lucky or have a few thousand on standby, l would keep building your site if you think that it has commercial potential or work on creating a list on the side to make sure that if your site takes a long time to mature, you have a backup source of income to fall back on!

DETROIT, Jan. 6, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — “Snap. Crackle. Pop.(TM)”"A diamond is forever.[sup.]”"Just do it.[sup.]” Advertising slogans are ingrained in the collective American imagination. Although they may sound clever, they are more than just cute sayings. Great advertising theme lines like these drive the nation’s economy, encourage commerce and build brands.

Today, the demand for creative talent in advertising has never been greater. College for Creative Studies (CCS) is proud to announce that they are addressing this need by offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Copywriting starting Fall 2011.

“The creative economy is a powerful and global force that only shows signs of growing in the coming years,” says Richard L. Rogers, president of College for Creative Studies. “CCS educates students for a variety of well paying, solid career paths. The new BFA in Copywriting enhances our already successful efforts in this arena. We are proud to add copywriting to our cadre of creative disciplines.”

The 126-credit program is focused on developing copywriting skills in an interdisciplinary and team-oriented atmosphere. And by recreating an advertising agency environment, students receive a unique and comprehensive educational opportunity.

“We designed this program to meet the demands of advertising agencies that are increasingly hiring copywriter/ art director teams over the traditional method of hiring individuals,” says Mark Zapico, chair of CCS’s renamed Advertising Department. “This new degree gives our graduates a distinct advantage. No other undergraduate program in the region prepares students in this manner. We are excited to unveil this offering at CCS.”

Students pursuing a BFA in Copywriting collaborate with art directors to create 360 degree multimedia campaigns. The program teaches them to make informed strategic decisions, understand cultural and societal trends, and work in today’s digital media platforms. They also learn to lead and take initiative, make ethical decisions, and be innovative problem-solvers in a fast paced, dynamic and evolving industry.

“This venture is a departure for us since CCS is known primarily for visual art and design. But as we studied the job market and analyzed agency needs, we realized that now is the right time for this change,” says Zapico. “Copywriting is a growing and lucrative career path for creative writers. We want our graduates to be more than good writers. We want them to be great creative leaders.”

The College for Creative Studies (CCS) is an integrated learning community located in Detroit. A private, fully accredited college, CCS enrolls 1,400 students pursuing Master of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees. CCS also offers visual art opportunities for learners of all ages through its Community Arts Partnerships and Continuing Education programs. The Advancing the Creative Spirit campaign enables CCS to provide a world-class art and design curriculum and innovative programming. The $55 million campaign has raised more than $45 million to date, and the College is working hard to keep its promise to the community. WANT TO HEAR SOMEONE GET EXCITED about a database? (Yes, a database.) Here’s Heather Holmes marveling over the master file she oversees at Technology Review.

“I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to talk about our new spiffy database,” she says. “We’re still building it, but I’m delighted to sing its praises based on Phase I.” Why all the love? For the first time, Technology Review has a gigantic, unified, real-time database the company employs for e-commerce transactions, market analysis, content creation, newsletter creation, Webinars and RSS feeds among other uses, says Holmes, who serves as senior vice president of audience development.

Across the industry, publishers increasingly are selling across many different products and channels, including print, digital, events and research. Technology Review’s early success with its new database may provide a case study for other publishers as they, too, move to build master files.

Until October 2010, when Technology Review launched its database, the magazine was pulling data from multiple sources: newsletter lists, events lists, international partners, content databases, newsletter databases, RSS feeds, a Webinar database, and others. Some of the databases were housed at Technology Review’s office in Cambridge, others at the magazine’s fulfillment provider in California. And none of those databases was connected.

Requirements for a Single Database

About a year ago, Technology Review began discussions with ESP Computer Systems in North Hollywood, Calif., a fulfillment company already hosting some of Technology Review’s systems and databases.

Together, the two companies created requirements for the project. They had to devise a system that would allow Technology Review to use a single database for its Web site paywall strategy, events sign-ups, products, subscriptions and security maintenance. “There are a lot of moving parts and a tremendous amount of data whizzing back and forth,” says Holmes. “The customer has no idea the data is flying across the country.”

Maintaining the platform requires careful coordination. Holmes said she has monitoring in place so that if Technology Review’s systems go down, or if ESP’s systems go down, there is a Plan B.

[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED]

“It’s centralized and real-time,” Holmes said. “We truly use that one database for everything from database transactions to market analysis.”

The database offered an almost immediate financial pay-off. “This is tremendously helpful to our bottom line,” she says. “I can instantly go online and do queries and cross-hatch reports that tell me, for instance, how many of my newsletter subscribers don’t get the print magazine. Then I can immediately blast them a newsletter upsell.”

Before, Holmes said, she would have had to merge and purge several customer lists and databases–a process that would have taken three to four weeks of planning. “My time to market is now instant,” she said.

Digital Subscriptions Up 10 Percent

In October, the magazine moved 11 of its e-mail newsletters to the new database; in late November, the Web site registration process went live; and in December Holmes moved the event registration process to the new database.

Users can register online at technologyreview.com, subscribe, pay with a credit card, gain immediate access to its premium content–and appear in the database in mere seconds.

Digital subscriptions increased 10 percent in just the first two weeks of the paywall’s existence–the first time in the six years Holmes has worked at Technology Review that growth was noticeable in a short time period. “That was a statistic I got goosebumps over,” she says.

As the name suggests, the Bum Marketing Method is a method of marketing that requires no capital to get started. In fact, all you need is a little guidance and some spare time. This article will provide the guidance - the time is up to you!

You don’t even need any specific internet skills to follow this method. If you were able to find this article, you will be able to do this.

So how does Bum Marketing work?

Step 1 - Choose a ‘Hot Product’

Choose a product you wish to promote - one that lots of people want. You can get free information on search trends with tools such as Google Trends and eBay Pulse to find out what people are currently looking for. Choose a niche market and narrow this down until you find a product that satisfies its needs.

Step 2 - Check out the Competition

There’s no point in trying to promote a product that every marketer and his uncle is already promoting. On the other hand, if no-one else is promoting it, the chances are it’s not that profitable. Having some competition tells you the product is worth promoting and also allows you to learn from the most successful promoters. Check out the top three or four listings in Google to pick up marketing ideas.

Getting the balance between demand and supply is crucial. Your product should be in fairly high demand (between 5,000 and 10,000 searches) and have relatively low competition (between 1,000 and 5,000 listings).

Step 3 - Launch your Marketing Campaign!

The most effective method of generating free traffic is to write and publish articles on Ezine about the product you are promoting and add your affiliate link at the bottom. Write two or three articles which provide information about the product making sure you include the keywords found during Step 2. Your articles don’t need to be fancy - the most effective approaches are review-style or FAQ-style articles.

Don’t try to sell your product - that’s the vendor’s job. Just give people the information they need about it. What questions are they asking? What are previous customers saying? They are more likely to buy the product from you if they are pleased with the information you have given them.

Above all, be creative. Once you have your killer keywords the internet is your oyster!
